The commitment of the Abismo Anhumas is not only to Brazilian environmental authorities or to NGOs operating with the environment. Our commitment is to the planet Earth and its inhabitants. We believe that a sustainable tourism operation should be concerned with the environment and the whole community involved.
To assure this sustainable character, the Abismo is located in 56 hectares that are under a process of transformation into a Private Reserve of the National Natural Patrimony (RPPN). RPPNs are areas of significant environmental importance recognized by the Public Power since 1990, whose objective is to protect the environmental resources of a specific region. The existence of a RPPN depends solely on the landowner’s will. Once it is established, the area may develop activities with scientific purposes of environmental education, leisure and ecotourism. Note: a RPPN will never cease to be a conservation area, being even recognized by the National Conservation Units System (SNUC). The team has full financial support to search for training and also carries out trainings on vertical techniques for other people in the community.
Our main objective is to perpetuate this reserve so that all people can enjoy nature without risks to future generations.
