The expedition to the Abismo Anhumas has a sequence of basic points so that the visitor can enjoy the tour without taking risks. So, the visitor shall pay attention to the following clues:
•
* On the day before of the expedition, the team of the Abismo Anhumas carries out a specific training at our reservation central which is downtown in Bonito. The aim is to make everybody aware of the descent and ascent techniques, as well as of the safety procedures involved in this adventure.
•
* The tour requires small groups, with defined schedules, in order to provide everybody with more comfort and security. Both the groups and timetables are defined one day before the tour, during the training carried out at the reservation central in Bonito.
•
* The maximum limit of visitors is 16 people/day.
•
* After the descent, the tourist will arrive at a ffloating deck where monitors will be waiting to provide all the required support. An inflatable boat is used to a tour around the lake, when a monitor gives several information. Another monitor guides the floating with mask and snorkel, which is a unique experience to know the cave inside the water.
•
* The scuba diving (with compressed air cylinder) is only allowed for certificated divers, within a daily limit of four divings. Any person
with the Basic Course (Open Water Diver) is allowed to do it as long as he presents his “little card” in the training. The diver will always be accompanied by a dive-master, a certified guide to provide the underwater support.
•
* The diving shall be appointed separately from the rappel. Note: There can be vacancy for the rappel with floatation and no vacancy for the scuba diving. So, book your programs in advance.
•
* The equipment for scuba diving or floating can be rented at local diving operators.
•
* The tour doesn’t include transportation and food.
•
* The tour doesn’t include personal accident insurance.
WHAT ONE SHOULD TAKE WITH
Be prepared if you decide to face the descent in the Abyss. As any other tour involving physical effort, it’s very important to take care of your hydration and nourishment. One should drink water before, during and after the tour. Before leaving the hotel, take a good breakfast, then take any light snack with you, for example, some fruits, a cereal bar, a sandwich or a chocolate. You’ll spend a lot of energy to go down and, especially, to go up the 72 meters of the Abyss. Remember: that’s the same height of a 30-storey building.
One should wear comfortable and long clothes, because it’s very cold inside the Abyss. We recommend lose pants, a T-Shirt and a sweatshirt. Textiles that allow for the transpiration are also great! The best for the feet are boots or closed sneakers with long socks.
Image hunters must be aware that the cave is huge and dark. It is allowed (and even recommended) to take pictures there, but one should take a film 400 ASA or any other more sensitive to light. The use of tripod requires a previous authorization from the organization. Talk to us in advance.
